Microsoft: FAST Search for SharePoint Demo   case study > Read Case Study

Microsoft acquired FAST Search in 2008, and moved rapidly to include the FAST search engine into the SharePoint platform. In 2010, Ceonex was asked to help create a demonstration of FAST Search for SharePoint 2010 that would effectively display its potential to deliver substantial returns on investment by improving targeted information discovery within the enterprise.

Ceonex helped develop 6 different search application concepts, and went on to implement a working demonstration of one of these. We developed user interface illustrations for all 6 applications that were used to develop a slide deck. One search application was then chosen for actual implementation as a demonstration. Implementing the demo required creating a collection of sample documents that would allow for realistic searches, customizing the SharePoint graphical interface, creating interactive visual refiners, incorporating cutting edge search web parts that allowed for previewing search results documents (for example being able to preview the slides of a PowerPoint in a small view in the results, drag them to a work area where they could be manipulated and saved), and configuring FAST Search for SharePoint (metadata mapping etc.) The resulting demo was "packaged" so that it can be downloaded and installed on a suitably configured server.

Building Design+Construction: LoginAndLearn   case study > Read Case Study

LoginAndLearn.com is an online university built on Leadix’s learning management platform. Sponsored by publications Building Design+Construction, Housing Zone and Construction Equipment, the site has been providing AIA accredited courses for architects and builders since 2008.

Courses on the site are easily administered by a content management system on the back end. Materials such as PDFs, videos and webcasts are quickly set up and displayed to users conveniently embedded in their course screens. Exams are created with multiple choice or any other answer configurations, and are automatically scored. Passing scorers instantly receive a personalized printable certificate in HTML or PDF format. Courses are organized by multiple taxonomies, including topic, media type and builder type. Courses are also placed within sponsored campuses, each of which are additionally associated with sponsored brochures, whitepapers and links.

LoginAndLearn.com also makes use of other out-of-the-box Leadix tools, such as a “similar courses” widget, course rating, FAQ, send-to-a-friend module and site search. A robust suite of reports provides detailed data about overall traffic patterns, user activity, course activity and much more. Reports are highly filterable, including by sponsor—which means supporting data for ongoing sponsor relationships is easily obtained. Detailed demographic information, such as percentage of architects using the site versus builders and others, has been useful to the publisher.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers: Time & Attendance   case study > Request Case Study

Ceonex worked with the US Army Corps of Engineer’s New England District to replace their paper time reporting system with a fully digital system which enforces all of their required attendance rules and produces a digitally signed document. The Enterprise Time and Attendance System (ETA) saves the New England District an estimated $275,000/year in operating costs, and had a payback period of less than two years. In a recent survey by the Corps, ETA received the top ranking of the 36 time entry systems identified. ETA has since been adopted at the Mobile District as well. The Enterprise Time and Attendance System tracks both attendance and project time and enforces timekeeping rules for the Corps of Engineers.
